Description

The R-29-300 engine was tested on the Su-17M and M2 variants offering a slight increase in speed and climb but with increased fuel consumption. The Su-17 variants powered by this powerplant were rejected for use with the VVS it was cleared for export and eventually flew with the air forces of Afganistán, Angola, Hungary, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Perú, Syria, Vietnam, the URSS and Yemen (North and South).
